From Drawing to Sculpture: From the Depths of the Self, Dimensions are Created"
Assemblage Art Scluptures Mixed Media Figurative Art.
Between drawing, lines, colors, and the expressive moments that my paintings have carried over the years, my works have always told a continuous narrative. It may have been a story, a moment, or a situation, but every painting has held a part of my essence. In 2013, I was invited to hold an art residency in Lebanon for a month, where I stayed with Syrian artist Reem Yasouf. During that time, before I began, I felt the urge to embark on a new journey—one that would draw from my experience with the manual arts I have mastered, such as sewing and embroidery, alongside drawing and recycling.
This experience represented a challenge for me in merging these artistic skills, so I began transferring the characters I drew into a third dimension—not just on paper or canvas, but as three-dimensional sculptures. I used threads, fabric, wood, nails, and any material that could alter its visual identity to create a new scene that belonged to the realm of sculpture, but with tools I loved—tools that intersected with my visual and cultural heritage, particularly the Damascene traditions.
In these works, I sought deep human questions related to the struggle between life and death, between dreams and reality, and between freedom and confinement. These works were not merely artistic pieces; they represented moments of internal struggle and experiences I had lived through. Works like "Truth," "Integration and Distinction," "Isolation," and others, addressed issues related to identity, personal conflict, and society.
But some works took on another, more complex dimension, such as those that dealt with topics like sex, desire, and existence. In works like "Free Kick," "Offside," and "Child Marriage," I explored the woman and the body as tools to raise questions about power, culture, and personal liberation. Each piece was an expressive act aimed at challenging cultural and societal values, an attempt to shine a light on aspects often overlooked or neglected. The materials I used in these works—threads, embroidery, and wood—struck a balance between harshness and softness, much like life itself, between the difficult situations we face and the emotions we live through.
These works were a documentation of a human life that raised questions about existence, freedom, and identity. The diversity of materials reflected the diversity of fates, situations, and emotions I have experienced, and each element of the work represented a part of this personal journey I am living.
In the end, my art is not just a collection of artworks but a documentation of thought, time, and emotions. It is a mirror of the human experience, searching for hope, freedom, and truth in a world filled with challenges.

Title: "Everything is Possible and Transient"
This piece is an installation in which I collected and recycled wooden frames to create a visual scene composed of wings in different sizes. These wings are made from bird feathers that I gathered over a year from forests and roads, then stitched them together as a symbol of continuous hope and strength, emphasizing that the wing will eventually fly despite all obstacles.
In addition to the wings, I used transparent fabrics, such as tulle, which represent purity and fragility, alongside an old music cylinder symbolizing sound as a tool for communication and listening. Rabbit skin symbolizes hunting, an allegory for the violence and power that often dominate humans in their quest for survival. Furthermore, I created feet from sheer cotton fabric, symbolizing inner strength in every step towards the future, even if those steps are fragile or filled with challenges.
Additionally, I placed a black-painted children's chair with figures made from black metal wires, watching the scene with eyes filled with concern and caution, as if bearing the weight of the future.
This work is an attempt to create a visual scene characterized by shades of gray, black, and white, reflecting the different impacts of human life. As humans, we all live on this earth, each with our role, but this role should never be subjected to authority. The core message is that everything is possible, and change is an inherent part of the endless journey of life.
